Pat Weir was born on June 23, 1929 to Leland and Marie Pless of Bloomington, Indiana. While attending college and working at the campus book store of Indiana University, Pat was swept off her feet by Jackson, TN native, Robert K. "Buddy" Weir. After marrying in October of 1951, Pat and the love of her life made the Malesus community of Jackson, TN their forever home.
Pat and Buddy Weir raised 4 beautiful girls, two of which preceded Pat in death: Anna Marie Weir Harris (deceased); Jennibeth "JB" Weir Simmons; Lisa Weir (Deceased) and Lori Weir. In addition to her two remaining daughters, Pat is also survived by her treasured grandchildren: Whitney Norville Todd (John); Chelsea Harris (Deceased); Ryan Simmons; and Tyler Simmons(Samantha). Her extraordinary great grandchildren: Anna Marie and Rubye Todd, and Finlee Simmons will continue to be the source of infinite joy for her family. Pat is also survived by Carol Harm, one of her four sisters.
With a passion for serving her family and community, Pat Weir impacted the lives of countless girls as a Girl Scout Leader. At one time, her four daughters were active in each level of Girl Scouts. She was also an active participant in the Women's Health Initiative to address major health issues causing morbidity and mortality in women from its inception in 1991.
Even a chance encounter with Pat Weir quickly revealed that she was a woman with a Mighty Faith! She was a devoted member of Malesus United Methodist Church and served as Lay Leader for the church and on numerous committees. Sharing her commitment to servant leadership with her husband, family vacations were devoted for many years to the Annual Lay Leadership Conference at Lake Junaluska. She was a Spiritual Warrior with a passion for people. Her bright light will be missed but never ever forgotten.
