

Funeral services for Paul H. Watlington, age 90, will be held at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, January 15, 2014 in the sanctuary of Malesus United Methodist Church, with Rev. Ray Chandler officiating. Interment will follow in Ebenezer Cemetery in Malesus.
Mr. Watlington passed away on Sunday, January 12, 2014 at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital.
He was born in Madison County on August 11, 1923 to the late Ulrich Armstrong and Jennie Sophronia Hammond Watlington, and was married to the late Rachel Weir Watlington.
Paul was active in his local church, Malesus United Methodist Church and several civic organizations, being a Charter Member of the Malesus Civic Club. Paul served on the Board of Trustees for the Ebenezer Cemetery for many years. He worked as a fine finish cabinet maker for Piggly Wiggly and later as a supervisor for Watlington Brothers Construction Comapny. He served in the Army during WWII in the South Pacific. Paul enjoyed working in and sharing his yard and garden with friends and family. He built many pieces of furniture for loved ones. As anyone who knew him would agree, Paul was the greatest husband, dad, and friend a person could have.
Surviving are his daughters, Susan Sheppard (Lee) of Jackson, Becky Hoskinson of Jackson, Nancy (Danny) Tignor of Destin, FL; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Visitation with the family will be held on Wednesday, January 15, 2014 at 10 a.m. until the time of the service at 11:30 a.m.
Memorial contributions may be directed to Ebenezer Cemetery or Malesus United Methodist Church.
