Philip was born on January 30, 1946 in Springer, Oklahoma, the son of Ausbin and Laura Merritt Jones. Phil worked as a construction worker for most of his adult life. Phil loved going on mission trips to Ecuador, Nicaragua and Argentina. He was able to communicate with everyone through his broken Spanish, hand gestures and his unforgettable smile.
He was preceded in death by his brother Sonny, and his parents Ausbin and Laura.
He is survived by his loving wife, Jane Jones of Jackson; his sons Brent, Adrian (Rebecca), Luke (Aimee) and daughter Angie Nelson. Eight grandchildren, Caleb, Callie Jane, and Brooke Nelson, Joseph, Isaac, Thomas, Baylor and Baker Jones. His brothers; Jim Jones, Joe (Sandy) Jones, Dan (Kenna) Jones, Ward (Faye) Jones, Wade Jones, Dean (Kathy) Jones. His sisters; Sarah Key and Amy (Mark Smith). And
many wonderful nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends and loved ones on Monday, March 1, 2021 from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. with a funeral service following at 11:30 a.m. at the Campbell Street Church of Christ.
Philip will be laid to rest with full military honors at the Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery at Parkers Crossroads on March 2 at 9:30 a.m.
