He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother.
He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Linda J. Avent; two daughters, Michelle D. Avent, Laura Avent Webb (husband, Timothy) and one grandson, Grant Webb. Gene also left this life blessed with two brothers, Wayne Avent (Katie), Edward Avent (Nancy), and one sister, Peggy Vandiver (Thomas), and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visitation with family at George A. Smith and Sons North Chapel is on Thursday, August 30, 2012 from 4 p.m. - 5:30 p.m., with a Memorial service to follow. The family welcomes friends to join us in this celebration of Gene's life.
