Graveside services for Robert (Bobby) Outland Agnew, age 67, will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, December 5, 2010 at Ridgecrest Cemetery, where Military Honors will be observed, with Rev. John Agnew officiating.
Mr. Agnew passed away peacefully at his home Thursday, December 2, 2010 following a short illness.
He was born in Jackson, TN on May 23, 1943, the son of the late Robert Elmer and Mildred Agnew. He was a lifelong resident of Madison County and attended Pope Elementary and North Side High School. Mr. Agnew was a disabled veteran. He served two tours in Vietnam with the 101st Airborne Division. He was awarded the Bronze Star with "V" device for valor and a Purple Heart.
Survivors include one son, John Perry Agnew of Jackson; one daughter, Lisa Agnew Case of Jackson; two grandsons, Tyler Agnew and Dillon Case. He also leaves a sister, Karen Piercey of Jackson and two brothers, Ron Agnew (Betty) of Columbia, TN and John David Agnew (Rhonda) of Cartersville, GA. Other survivors include nieces, Shea Piercey of Jackson, Christy Staggs of Brentwood, TN and Jessica Agnew of Columbia, TN and a nephew ,Drew Agnew of Cartersville, GA.
Pallbearers to serve are Drew Agnew, Ryan Staggs, Clyde Boren, Jr., Billy Roe, John Anthony and Jack Briley.
Mr. Agnew's family is greatful for the wonderful care given by the Staff of Hospice of West Tennessee, and would like to give a special thanks to them.
The family will receive friends at the North Chapel of George A. Smith and Sons on Saturday, from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m.
