Robert "Bro. Bob" D. Ervin

Funeral services for Robert Ervin age 79 will be at 11:00 AM Wednesday, July 27 at Woodland Baptist Church with Dr. Walter Jackson and Len Kennedy officiating. Burial will follow in Highland Memorial Gardens. The visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 26, 2016 from 5 PM until 7 PM in the North chapel of George a Smith and Sons. “Brother Bob” as he was affectionately called went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on July 23, 2016 he was born in Jackson Tennessee the son of the late Sarah and Bill Irvine

After graduating from Jackson high school he went into the Air Force where he served almost 9 years. While in the Air Force he met his wife Loretta in St. Louis, they have been married 59 years. After leaving the Air Force he went to work for Gerber baby foods as a salesman. He worked for Gerber for 15 years when God called him into the ministry. After being a by- vocational preacher and pastor he was called to full-time ministry at Woodland Baptist Church where he remained for 19 1/2 years. The Church grew greatly under his ministry. After his retirement he became full time pastor at Smyrna Baptist Church in Humboldt.

Other than his parents he was preceded in death by his son Steven Ervin, his grandson John Mark Casey. He was also preceded in death by four brothers Clyde Ervin, Howard Ervin, Joe Ervin, Jackie Ervin and two Sisters Maureen Grace and Frances Richardson. Remaining to cherish his memory are his wife Loretta, his son Tom Ervin (Tere) his daughter Sheila Knowles (Jim). His grandchildren Bobby Casey (Amanda), Tyler Ervin (Brooke), Alex Ervin (Meredith). Six great grandchildren Ace Casey, Finley Casey, Eli Ervin, Paxton Ervin, Olivia Ervin and Maddox Ervin and also buy one brother Jim Ervin (Rose) and buy one sister Judy Green. Pallbearers to serve will be Gary LeForgee, Larry Morris, Jim Frazier, Woody Williams, Jay Benthal, and Mike German. Honorary Pallbearers will be the grandchildren Claire Ervin, Tyler Ervin, Alex Ervin, and Bobby Casey
