

Scott was born and raised in Mercer, TN and was in the last graduating class of Mercer High School. He then attended Lambuth University. Scott began his career selling life insurance. From there, he worked in finance most of his life, and found his most loved and rewarding career in banking. At his retirement in 2015, he held the title of Executive Vice President of BancorpSouth Bank and worked there for 38 years. Scott won many awards and had many successful achievements doing what he loved most-helping people. Scott was loved by many due to his generous, helpful, and pleasant personality.
Scott is survived by his wife Judy, his two sons Jeff (Felicia), Kevin (Connie) and one daughter Delores Ray (Chris), grandchildren Trent Harris, Chelsea Ray, Telicia Harris and Tyler Ray and one great grandson, Baylor Cox. He is also survived by stepchildren Penny Taylor (Michael) LeeAnn Minard (Delray), step grandchildren Damien Espitia, Chloe’ Espitia, Jade Minard, Meagan Minard, and step great grandsons Link Espitia and Zayden Farrell. He is also survived by one sister, Peggy Shaw, and many nieces and nephews that he loved dearly.
He was predeceased by one daughter, Dorothy Harris, his mother and father Bobbie Taylor Harris and Arthur Harris, sisters Marbie Tate, Roxie Durbin, Omega Tate, Edrodean (Dean) Willoughby, Bessie Foote, Betty Turner, and three brothers Roy Harris, Arthur Harris, Jr. and Gwendolyn Harris.
Visitation will be held Sunday, December 19th at the North Chapel of George Smith and Sons Funeral Home on north Highland from 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. Services will be held immediately following the end of visitation at 2:00 p.m.
Burial will be at Ebenezer Cemetery located in south Jackson on Medon-Malesus Rd immediately following the service.
