My heart is still breaking from the sad news that I was finally able to learn yesterday from Brenda Jones' very thoughtful email.  All of Talmus' family will be in my thoughts and prayers in the days to come.  Like our mothers, Talmus and I were bosom buddies in our younger days.  There were numerous times when we had to go hear "Mrs. Mattie" sing.  And "Mr. M's" forestry talents endeared him to my dad.  I spent many hours staring into Talmus' fish pool on Forest Avenue. Only Talmus
HAD a FISH POOL. "They freeze in the winter?" 
"Nope."  "You feed them?"  "Nope."  "They have enough to eat?"  "Yep."  Talmus could say more in a few words than most can in an hour.
It was a beautiful morning when Talmus was com-
ing to help me with my 4-H project: the chicken
yard.  I was still learning about my Kodak Brownie Hawkeye camera- check the antique and collectable stores- and was determined to doc-ument Talmus and the chicken project.  It was one of the finest Brownie photographs ever made.  It surely must be in the archives some-where and I would love to share it with you someday.  Let me know where to send.  It is truly a classic.

Martha & Barbara,  I hate I missed Talmus' visitation but I have thought about all of you during this time of sorrow.  I enjoyed my friendship with Talmus more than you know and he taught me a lot about life and I will really miss him.  Jim Day

Uncle Talmus, we miss you so much.  You taught me a lot about being a good person and caring about the actions I take everyday and I will carry that with me forever.  I take solace in the fact that I know that you are in a better place and enjoying being with Nana and Grandaddy again.  We love you!

My memories of Talmus was a strong person. I am so glad I got to see him at the Hopson reunion in Tiptonville. My thoughts and prayers are with the family.Mother and Mattie had very strong connections which brought us all to love each other. May God bless you all..

It was a pleasure to have known Talmus, we would cross paths with one another  and have a nice chat, he would ask about my brother David and I would ask about Martha, as the four of us were in school together. Lots of memories. Sorry for your loss, he will be missed know doubt as he had a  host of nieces and nephews. 
Martha, you were always  special, sorry I could not come to visitation.

To the family of Talmus, I had the pleasure of being in school from elementary to High School with him and also was able to visit with him a week ago. It was good to see him feeling like eating popcorn and he even offered to share with Linda and I. We had planned to go back but was unable to but he left a lot of memories for me over the years and I hope this will comfort the family

We know you are in a better place, Uncle Talmus.  We will miss you!

Life moves down the tracks and stops every so often to let off a passenger.  The train stopped Monday to let off the engineer.  The ride won't be the same but I know your light guides us through the tunnels ahead.  We miss you so much Uncle Talmus.
