Thomas D. Lillard
March 16, 1934 – November 4, 2019
After a short illness Thomas Denton Lillard of Germantown Tennessee slipped quietly away to meet his lord on Monday, November 4, 2019. His accomplishments were many. He served his country in the Tennessee National Guard and was a graduate of LSU School of Banking. He was Jackson Jaycees “Man of the Year” in 1968, served as President of Jackson State Bank and First Tennessee Bank from 1969 until his retirement in 1981. During these years he was elected as Board Chairman of Jackson Madison County General Hospital in April 1970 and served for thirteen years. In 1977 he was elected board chairman for Union University and served as a board member of the Installment Credit Committee of the American Banking Association and the Jackson Exchange Club. In In 1982 he joined Commercial Bank and Trust in Paris Tennessee as their president. In later years he was a financial planner is own firm, Lillard and Associates in Germanton. He was ordained as a Deacon of First Baptist Church of Jackson Tennessee in 1963 at the age of 28. He was later a Sunday School teacher at First Baptist Church, Paris Tennessee. He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Nell Pitcock Lillard. He leaves also his children, Thomas D. Lillard (Yonhui), Fara Lillard Hall (Ben), Susanne Elisabeth Lillard, Patricia Lillard Coffey (Roger), Andrea Stubblefield, Alden Lillard Long (Scott Pickett), and Dr. Jock Carrington Lillard (Cailyn). Surviving grandchildren are Caleb N. Lillard, Ben H. Hall III, Kimberleigh Annette Lillard, Caroline Rebekah Lillard, William Harrison Hall, Isabella Stubblefield and Mya Long. He is also survived by two sisters, Mildred Prescott and Sue Harvey. Preceding him in death are his son, John D. Lillard II, parents John D. and Myrtle Polk Lillard, sister Elizabeth Powell and brothers Edwin Polk Lillard and Robert Lillard. He lived his life serving and seeking his Savior, Jesus Christ, and loved his Lord above all else, followed by his love for family, from whom he knew his greatest happiness.
