Wes was born on June 1, 1931. He graduated from Peabody High School in Trenton where he was a star football player. He then went to college at Pearl River on a football scholarship. He joined the United States Marine Corps and served during the Korean War. He then came back and graduated from Union University with a degree in Business Administration. He married Gay Jones Forsythe and they were married for 63 years. He managed Nando Jones Store was affectionately known as Mr. Wes.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters.
He is survived by his three children, Phil Forsythe (Jenny), Molly Forsythe Ray, and Brad Forsythe; six grandchildren, Suzanne Goode (Patrick), Eric Ray (Mallory), Drew Fosythe (Meera Mani), Lauren Coker (Caleb), Samantha Forsythe Johnson, and Jacob Forsythe; one great grandchild, Vernon Wesley Ray; his sister, Nancy Miller and her son, Greg; sister-in-law, Patricia Eason Caldwell; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends and loved ones on Saturday, February 27, 2021 from 9-11 a.m. at the North Jackson Church of Christ. The service will follow at 11 a.m. with David Powell officiating. Burial will follow in Hollywood Cemetery.
Honorary pallbearers will be the Elders and Deacons of North Jackson Church of Christ and Dr. John Jenkins.
