Ron was born on January 18, 1964, in Jackson, Tennessee, to the late Walter Rondle Plemons and Sharon Kennon Plemons. He grew up in Florence, Alabama, and Pinson, Tennessee, where he learned from his family that faith, hard work, and love will take you a long way in life.
On February 10, 1989, Ron married the love of his life, Tammy King Plemons. Together, they built a life centered around family, dedication, and unwavering support for one another.
Ron retired from Barnhart Crane and Rigging after 25 years of service and from Iron Workers Local 167 after 29 years. In January of 2024, he stepped away from work to stay home and care for his father, a testament to his selfless and devoted nature. He was a member of South Side Baptist Church.
Ron was known for his infectious charm and charisma. He had a unique ability to lift the spirits of everyone around him, and there was a sense of comfort knowing he was on the job. He was always busy, whether in the shop or the yard, working on a project. Though he often joked that he was “a jack of all trades and a master of none,” those who knew him understood he truly had a deep knowledge of how things worked and was never afraid to try, fail, and try again.
He enjoyed watching movies with his family, listening to Southern classic rock and K-LOVE, spending time at the ball field cheering on his children and grandchildren, and cruising on his Harley-Davidson. Above all, Ron was a loving son, husband, father, and “Big Daddy,” a title he cherished deeply.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Tammy King Plemons; his children, Cody (Molly) Foster, Ron (Clair) Plemons III, Bubba (Lauren) Plemons, Anthony (Jessica) Carter, and Eric Bynum; his grandchildren, Chloe Foster, Drake Plemons, Ty Foster, Paisyn Smith, Beau Plemons, and Emersyn Plemons; his siblings, Chris Plemons Harding and Katherine Plemons Stanfill; and a host of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Sharon Kennon Plemons (2006) and Walter Rondle Plemons (2024).
Pallbearers will be Blake Potter, Jerry Scott, Dwight Moore, Kevin Goforth, Dennis McLemore, and Paul Howell. Honorary pallbearers are Dennis Ables, Archie Hardy “Birdie” Haynes, and Billy Ramey.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on April 14, 2026, at the George A. Smith and Sons South Chapel with Brother Jimmy Horton officiating. Interment will follow in Roger’s Cemetery. The family will receive friends on April 14 from 11:00 a.m. until the service hour at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital.
Ron will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
