Funeral Services for William H. Adkins, age 82 of Pinson, will be held on Wednesday, January 19th at 1 p.m., in the South Chapel of George A. Smith and Sons, with Bro. Jeff Smith officiating. Burial will follow in Highland Memorial Gardens.
Mr. Billy was born in Jackson, TN on November 17, 1929, the son of Charley and Louise Adkins. As a young man, Billy mastered the art of being a butcher, he then enlisted in the Army and served the United States in the Korean War. After returning home to Jackson, he married Virginia Ables in 1953. They together owned and operated a successful business in Jackson known as the Mutual Market until their retirement in 1997. After his beloved wife passed in 2003, Mr. Billy decided to come out of retirement, so he opened the Mutual Market in Pinson, which allowed him to serve the Community that he loved and made many great friends.
He is survived by a daughter, Brenda Dudley (Jerry) of Pinson; 2 grandchildren, Melissa Laster (Scott) and Billy Flanagan (Denise) of Henderson; 4 great-granchildren, Josh and Jacob Laster, and Maggie and Lydia Flanagan.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, January, 18th at the George A. Smith and Sons South Chapel, from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m.
