William “Greg” Gregory Frye was born on December 21, 1945, in Jackson, Tennessee, and passed away on October 22, 2026, in Dyersburg, Tennessee. Greg was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather who will be remembered for his love of family, his quick wit, his sense of humor, and his love for the Lord.
Greg was married to the love of his life, Peggy Lynn, they were together for more than 60 years. In their marriage they built a life full of love, family, and memories that will be treasured for years to come. Peggy was a very special part of Greg’s life, and the love they shared was something to be admired.
Greg worked as a professional photographer then went on to be the general manager at Mid South Color Lab for more than 35 years. He enjoyed his work, but when he wasn’t working, he was happiest doing the things he loved most. He loved to hunt and fish, especially with his sons. Greg had a funny personality and a quick wit, and he always seemed to have something clever to say. He had a way of making people laugh and bringing joy to those around him.
More than anything, Greg loved his family. His sons meant the world to him, and his grandchildren and great-grandchildren brought him so much happiness. He was proud of his family and loved the time he spent with them. Whether it was sharing a laugh, spending time together, or simply enjoying being around the people he loved, those moments meant so much to him. Greg also loved the Lord, and his faith was an important part of his life.
Greg was preceded in death by his parents, Seab Martin Frye and Maggie Lee McKinney Frye; his beloved wife, Peggy Lynn Frye; and his sisters, Joyce Fullerton, Sandra Waite, and Kaye Greenway.
He leaves behind his sons, David Frye, Alan Frye, Marty Frye (Kelly), and Ashley Frye (Pam); his grandchildren, Rebecca Chandler (Jacob), Sara Catherine Frye, Mylan Surrat, Maggie Frye, Sadie Frye, Dylan Johnson, Shylah Frye, Logan Herndon (Brock), and Hunter Steinbach (Mary Rose); and his 11 great-grandchildren.
Greg will be missed more than words can say by the family who loves him. His laughter, his quick wit, his love for his family, and the memories they shared will never be forgotten. Though saying goodbye is never easy, his family will carry the memory of him with them always and will be thankful for the many years of love, and many years of laughter.
