I remember the first time I met my great uncle when I was stationed at NAS Mayport. As I was walking up the walkway he opened up the door and told me that he would have recognized me any where because I looked like his mother. My Mom's side of the family is very small and it was a privilege to finally met the uncle my Mom had fond memories of growing up.

This man changed my life the day he married my mom and asked me to be his forever daughter by adopting me and giving me his name. It is one thing to gain a dad, but when that man loves you enough to want to make you part of his life and legacy, that is the greatest gift he could ever do. I was loved and more importantly, wanted by my forever Daddy. From him I gain a strength of will, a strong work ethic, a love for my country, and an example of how to raise my own children. Because he was usually out to sea on my birthday he worked hard to make up the time with me, mostly just him and me fishing on still waters. I loved fishing, but I loved my time with him best. As we grew older our paths drifted a bit but never so much that he was ever from my thoughts, my heart, or my love. And that is how he will always be.
I love you Daddy. And I expect you to find just the right fishing hole by the time I join you in Heaven.
God bless, and God speed John Sutton, My Daddy.
Love your daughter, Cynthia Sutton (Burright)
