Adolphus Barnes Lynch, Jr. “Dolph” was born in Florence, SC on July 14, 1925. He passed away after an extended illness on April 20, 2014. He came to Jacksonville at an early age, and was educated in the public schools, graduating from Robert E. Lee High School in 1943. Upon graduation, he joined the Navy during World War II and served in the Pacific on board the U.S.S Kasaan Bay.
After release from the Navy, he attended the University of Florida. He was associated in the insurance Field during his adult life, dealing mostly in Contractor’s Surety Business. He helped form Surety Associates, Inc. and was Vice President of that firm upon his retirement in 2001.
He was a lifetime member of The Riverside Park United Methodist Church, a life Member of the Jacksonville Rotary Club, having been a member for over forty years, and an Honorary Life Member of the Florida Yacht Club, where he served on the board for many years.
He is survived by his brother, George G. Lynch of Jacksonville, Florida.
Graveside funeral services will be held at two o’clock in the afternoon on Friday, April 25, 2014 in Oaklawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Riverside Park United Methodist Church, 819 Park St., 32204. HARDAGE-GIDDENS, THE OAKLAWN CHAPEL, 4801 San Jose Boulevard is serving the family.
