

Captain Carneghi was born in St. Louis, Missouri, the son of Caesar and Angelina Carneghi and graduated from the United States Naval Academy in 1945, the National War College, with Master degrees from George Washington University, and University of North Florida.
Captain Carneghi entered into active duty at the end of World War II serving as an aviator and rising to the rank of Captain in a variety of assignments, including the War Department and the Pentagon, with tours of duty including China, Korea, Vietnam and serving in Hawaii as Commodore of a P3 Wing.
Captain Carneghi retired after twenty eight years of service as a highly decorated senior officer.
Captain Carneghi is predeceased by his wife, Iris Owens Carneghi and is survived by his niece Lana Gay of Santa Monica, California.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, March 30th, 11:00 AM at St. Matthews Catholic Church, 1773 Blanding Blvd., Jacksonville, FL 32210. A military inurnment will take place at Oaklawn Cemetary at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be made to Community Hospice of Northeast Florida at 4366 Sunbeam Road, Jacksonville, FL 32257.
