With love and gratitude for a life beautifully lived, we celebrate the homegoing of Alexa Olson, a devoted servant of God, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, pastor’s wife, and extraordinary music minister.
Alexa Renee Starr Olson was born on October 10, 1952, in Coldwater, Michigan, to Rev. and Mrs. William R. Starr, former District Superintendent of Michigan. Raised in Albion, Alexa grew up surrounded by faith, family, and music—three passions that would define her life. One of five sisters, all of whom married pastors, she carried forward a remarkable family legacy of ministry and devotion.
Alexa attended Texas Bible College and helped pioneer two churches. Alongside her husband, Pastor Rick Olson, she faithfully served in pastoral ministry for 42 years at the Church of Pentecost, the church they founded together. Through those decades, they built more than a congregation; they built a home for worship, families, relationships, and a place where lives could be changed.
Music became the heartbeat of Alexa’s ministry. A gifted organist and vocalist, she ministered through song with power and anointing. She produced three choir projects and authored The Children of Promise. Her talents reached far beyond her local church, filling churches, camps, and conferences across the country with praise and inspiration.
Alexa was known not only for her musical gifts, but also for her vibrant personality and unmatched sense of style. She carried herself with elegance and confidence—classy, creative, and full of life. Her eye for beauty shone in everything she touched, from the way she dressed to the way she decorated her home and church, transforming every space into a warm reflection of God’s glory.
As a loyal friend, Alexa brought joy, encouragement, and laughter wherever she went. As a devoted mother and grandmother, she poured her heart into her family, loving deeply, leading faithfully, and leaving behind a legacy of love and faith.
She is lovingly remembered by her husband of 55 years, Rick Olson, and their children: Aaron Olson (Lindsay), Shauna Williams (Scott), Logan Olson (Madelyn), and Elizabeth Olson. She was a proud grandmother to Lincoln Olson, Silas Olson, and Haley Morgan, who brought her immeasurable joy.
Alexa was preceded in death by her parents, William and Marian June Starr, and is survived by her beloved sisters: Marcia Ballestero (Martyn), Rebecca Trammell (David), Priscilla Spears (Curtis), and Sara Copple (Tom), all of whom share her family’s calling to ministry.
She will be remembered for her steadfast passion for Apostolic doctrine, her flawless taste, her infectious laughter, and her unwavering love for God and people.
Her life was a song of praise—beautifully composed, boldly lived, and now eternally rejoicing in the presence of her Savior.
Visitation will be held at Church of Pentecost, 8790 Hogan Rd, Jacksonville, FL 32216, on April 16, 2026, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am. Funeral Service will follow at 11:00 am. with interment at Oaklawn Cemetery, 4801 San Jose Blvd., Jacksonville, FL 32207.
