Alfred Joseph Serra Jr, Jacksonville FL, formerly of Boston MA. Son of Alfred and Marion Serra, both deceased. Beloved husband of Maria Luisa, Deceased. Father of Anthony and wife Janine Remondi, Anne and husband Peter Tomkins - Russell, Christopher and wife Sheila Smith. Brother of John (deceased) Michael, Paul, Thomas, Joseph and Theresa. Grandfather of Maximilian and Sophia. Passed away suddenly and peacefully in the company of his brother Michael. While serving in The Air Force he was stationed at a base just outside of Madrid, where he met and married his wife. After serving his country, he and his wife returned to Boston. Over the years he was involved in the parish committee at St. John Chrysostom Church in West Roxbury MA where he also served as an Eucharistic Minister. Served on the scouting committee of Troop and Pack 1 West Roxbury Boy Scouts , volunteered at The New England Center And Home For Veterans. The men’s club at Holy Family Catholic Church in Jacksonville where he also served as a long time usher. He was an avid Bridge player as well as an enthusiastic Patriots and Bruins fan. His career spanned working for Honeywell, Digital, Wang and State Street Bank. Having been transferred to Jacksonville, he eventually retired and enjoyed an active life with his wife, children, grandchildren, family and friends which included travel and being a grandfather. He was fortunate to enjoy the friendship of many. His funeral will be at San Jose Catholic Church Friday November 22nd at 9:30 am. In lieu of flowers donations are requested to The New England Center And Home For Veterans.
