

Alice Doyle Colsen, of Jacksonville, Florida, passed away on April 1, 2015. She was born in Wilmington, Delaware to George and Margaret Doyle on Easter Sunday, April 5, 1931. She graduated from the Delaware Hospital School of Nursing and became a Registered Nurse who specialized in public health, retiring from the State Board of Health of Florida. A strong and adventurous woman, she married the “love of her life,” Jack Colsen, and followed him to live on a sailboat in the Bahamas for several years before settling in Satellite Beach, Florida. She is survived by daughters Judi Durham and Martie Thompson (Rick) of Jacksonville and two grandchildren, Matthew Charles Thompson and Jonathan Edward Thompson as well as niece Susan B. Campbell. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Jack and sister Anna D. Beverin. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 11 at Mandarin United Methodist Church at 11:30 a.m. with a reception following in the fellowship hall. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in Alice’s name to the Jacksonville Humane Society or Mandarin United Methodist Church.
