
Alice Harding Green, 93, of Jacksonville, FL died Saturday, November 15, 2014. She was born August 14, 1921 in Brockway, PA. she attended Duke University and then graduated from Carnegie Tech in 1941. After joining the Marine Corps, she served in Parris Island, SC and Honolulu, HI as a junior meteorologist. She met her future husband, Raymond Green, a meteorologist, in Honolulu and they were married in 1948. After returning to the mainland, they relocated to the Washington, D.C. area where they stayed until 1973. At that time, they moved to Blue Mound, KS to be near family. Alice attended Pittsburg State University and obtained two Master’s Degrees. They moved to Pittsburg, KS and then Joplin, MO. Raymond preceded her in death in 2000. Because of ongoing health issues, Alice moved to Jacksonville, FL in 2010 to be near her daughter. Alice is survived by her daughter Margaret Vandevier, son-in-law Kurt Vandevier, sister-in-law Irma Hyson, and numerous nieces and nephews. Cremation will be handled by Hardage-Giddens Funeral Home of Mandarin. Services will be held at Ft. Scott National Cemetery at a later date.
