Alice Affalter Hunt passed on July 4, 2026, at the age of 91 and three-quarters. Born September 17, 1934 in Kansas and a longtime resident of Jacksonville, Florida, Alice was known to many as “Gerry”.
Although often very private and a bit of a loner, Gerry had a fun and whimsical streak that allowed her to play like a kid at Walt Disney World, be awed by lions and tigers and giraffes (oh my!), and be as entertained by the Savannah Bananas as she was by the New York Yankees.
Gerry was loved by, and will be missed by, a son-in-law, four grandsons-in-heart, two surviving sisters, and a diverse array of family and friends.
And very much by her heartbroken daughter, who will always remember the depths of love, protection, and generosity showered upon her by her mom. You won’t find a more empathetic soul who also summoned the fierceness of a warrior each of the many times she went to war for her cub.
Although we miss her already, there is comfort imagining her joy as she becomes reunited with the love of her life, catches up on the years they missed, and journeys forward free of life’s struggles at last.
