

Allen "Tom" Basham, 85, of Jacksonville, passed away on December 30, 2011 at the San Jose Health and Rehabilitation Center. Tom was born on July 22, 1926 in Hardinsburg, Kentucky to the late Paul Martin and Ruth (Kincheloe) Basham. Tom served in U.S. Navy from 1944-1946 as a Seaman Second Class USNR V-6. He attended the University of Kentucky and worked for Louisville & Nashville Railroad/CSX for 32 years as a Management Director of Intermodal Services. Tom enjoyed activities on the beach, sporting events, spending time with his family, traveling and reading novels. He is survived by his son, David Basham and his wife, Arebella; his grandchildren, Gregory and Harry, all of New York; his son, Paul Basham and his wife, Nancy; his grandchildren, Colin and Alec, all of Jacksonville; his daughter, Kathryn Elder and her husband, Chad; his grandchildren, Andrew, Kerryn, Chad, and Christopher, all of Jacksonville; his daughter: Karen Hendricks and her husband, David; his grandchildren, Alexis and Cody, all of Jacksonville; and his step-children; Tom, Tony, Paul, and Bill all of Jacksonville. Tom was preceded in death by his father, the Honorable Judge Paul Martin Basham; his mother, Ruth (Kincheloe) Basham; and his sister, Jane Hayden Basham Lucas. Funeral Services will be held at 3:00 pm on Wednesday, January 4th, 2012 with visitation one hour prior to the service at Hardage-Giddens Funeral Home of Mandarin. Graveside Services will be held at 2:30 pm on Tuesday January 10th, 2012 at Cave Hill Cemetery, Louisville Kentucky, where Tom will be placed beside his wife Diltz (Dee) Sims Basham who passed away in 1972.
