

Jean retired as a Personnel Officer for the U. S. Army Corps of Engineers. She graduated from Columbia High School in Lake City and attended college for one year at Aurora College in Illinois.
She will be remembered as a perfect example of a "Southern Lady" who always put others first, showed love, kindness and concern for all, loved God, her family and friends and was a great cook!
Jean leaves behind her son, James Edward Godfrey and his wife, Izumi (Bali, Indonesia), daughter, Pamela Godfrey Kibler and her husband, Rick (Jacksonville), her grandsons, Brian Reese Kibler (Jacksonville) and Scott Richard Kibler (Orlando), and her brother, Bobby Tompkins and his wife, Linda Gail (Lake City) along with many nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her brothers, Eddy Tompkins and Lamar Tompkins, mother, Alma Tompkins, and father, William Kendrick Tompkins.
Visitation will be held from 5:00p.m.-7:00p.m. on Tuesday, March 23rd at Hardage-Giddens Funeral Home 11801 San Jose Blvd. A private graveside service will be held on Wednesday, March 24th at Oaklawn Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Jean's name to Northeast Florida Community Hospice, 4266 Sunbeam Rd. Jacksonville, FL.
