Alma Patricia “Pat” Johnson passed away on May 5, 2018, after a long battle with cancer. She was born September 13, 1941 in Columbus, GA.

Pat lived most of her younger years in the Panama City, FL area. She was an accomplished gardener, expert seamstress, avid reader, who enjoyed music and dancing, crossword puzzles, knitting and crochet. She loved the outdoors, especially the white sand beaches of Panama City, Destin and St. George Island, FL, where she always found time to walk the beaches in search of that special sand dollar or seashell.

Pat met the love of her life, John, while living in Homestead, FL. Married for over 30 wonderful years they enjoyed travelling, spending time with children and grandchildren, dinners with neighbors and friends, their loving pets, Chipper and Barney, and going to the beach as often as possible. After her retirement from the Department of Defense, and John’s from the Air Force, they retired to Jacksonville, FL.

Pat leaves to cherish her memory her loving husband, John; sister, Hazel Yarbrough; brother, Jerry (Pat) Stephens; children, Gina (Gary) Dankert, Broward (Elizabeth) Coker, Charlotte Mullis, and Kevin (Michelle) Palmer; step-children, Scott (Angie) Johnson and Carrie (David) Berry. She was a loving grandmother to eight grandchildren, Shawn (Tasha) Coker, Ami (Chad) Halwes, Adam Wright, Danyelle Spong-Coker, Myra and Matthew Mullis, Jeanette Morin, and Taylor Palmer; and great-granddaughter Elaina Coker.

Pat was preceded in death by her mother and stepfather, Audrey and Joseph Stephens; her brothers, Hugh Jacobs and Andy Stephens; her son, Philip Coker; and step-son, Shawn Johnson.

I will never forget the first time I met Alma. I was helping her out of bed, when a physician walked in and asked her "how are you feeling?" and her response in a true Alma fashion "Are you kidding me?!!!" Alma was a fighter. Johnny supported her in every step. She pushed herself in the treadmill, did all those exercises and I will reward her with a manual therapy . We talked about her grandchildren, her children, St. George Island, our frustrating politics, Johnny's cooking. She is assertive, full of zest and spice. I thought about her a lot . I will miss you Alma.
