

He was born February 4, 1952 at Jacksonville, FL to Nook and Ruth (Giebler) Carter. He attended school in Jacksonville. Lamar was an accomplished musician on the bass guitar and was a member of Ridge Road South band group that played in local venues over the years. On one occasion his band was the opening act for a concert that featured 38 Special. Prior to becoming ill Lamar had been employed with Independence Warehouse for several years.
He is survived by his mother, Ruth Carter of Jacksonville. His loving companion, Jeanne Dennis of Jacksonville; two brothers: Wordell Carter (Gina) of Jacksonville and Kendale of St. George, GA. One sister, Jolene Carter (Kelly Dardeau) of Jacksonville. 5 nephews and 2 nieces. He was preceded in death by his father, Nook Carter.
A visitation will begin from 6 pm to 8 pm, Friday, January 15, 2016 at the Hardage-Giddens Greenlawn Funeral Home, 4300 Beach Blvd., Jacksonville, FL. Funeral services will begin at 10:00 AM, Saturday, January 16 at the Hardage-Giddens Greenlawn Funeral Home, with the Harmon Payne officiating. Interment will follow at the Greenlawn Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial may be made to the Epilepsy Foundation.
