Andrew Jackson Crawford, born February 23, 1942, passed away October 15th. He fought an 8 year battle with Parkinson’s, but passed away only 7 days after being diagnosed with Acute Myeloma Leukemia. He grew up in the Springfield area and later enlisted in the United States Army serving 23 years before honorably retiring as an E-6 Sergeant. Upon retiring from the Army, he joined the civil service at Naval Air Station Jacksonville Hospital and retired again after 10 years of service. Andy is predeceased by his Mother and Father; Naomi and Woodrow Crawford; daughter, Val Bode; and sister, Betty Crews. He is survived by his loving wife Margaret Elaine Crawford; daughter Vickie Bode Nobles; sons Steve Crawford and Vance Bode; sisters Linda McClain and Peggy Jones; brothers David and Walter Crawford; 5 grandchildren: Ryan, Kaela, Andie, Anson and Samantha. His strong presence, intelligence, kind and huge heart, sense of humor, quick wit and unconditional love will leave a hole in the hearts of his many friends and family. The family would like to give special thanks to the wonderful staff of the Oncology ward of UF & Shands hospital.
Visitation will be Tuesday, October 22 from 6-8 PM at Hardage-Giddens Funeral Home, 729 S. Edgewood Ave, Jacksonville. Funeral service will be Wednesday October 23 at 11 AM at the funeral home. Burial with full military honors will follow at Jacksonville National Cemetery.
