To his family, friends, and coworkers, I'm deeply sorry for such a great loss. Dr. Malacaman had done so much for the short time he was here and may his light shine brightly forever, as it was shone when he was alive on Earth. May you rest in peace and our hearts will always be sadden for you!

Lovely human being. Always trying to do the right thing. I saw him frequently in the parking lot as we walked together a few yards to reach our respective stations in the hospital taking care of the patients. He never had an ill word for anyone and refused to listen to any negative talk. He will be missed but his virtues will live on. God Bless and may He grant peace and strength to the families in this trying time. 

Oh what a great soul and physician.  When I was consulted on one of his patients, I knew there was great care, expert knowledge and thoroughness in his evaluation.   As Clarissa so poignantly described, his rolling computer was ahead of its time and COOL!  Truth is, I borrowed it several times...

I am still in shock to know that Dr. Malacaman has gone so soon. He lit up the room and truly made a great impression to me, not only as a doctor, but a cool guy! He wasn’t the serious type, and although his life was cut short, he made every moment count. He was always upbeat and had a great sense of humor. He brought something very invaluable to the table and that was being doctor doesn’t necessarily mean poor character. With his great personality, he was the epitome of the right doctor. The doctor who doesn’t need to give you a prescription to get well, but one who talks to you and makes you feel better. Prayers and love sent.

It has taken a week for me to compose my thoughts enough to even write this because part of me refuses to believe that he is gone.  I have known Anthony for almost 30 years.  Of all the souls I have encountered in my travels, his was the gentlest.  I don't think he ever intentionally hurt another person in all his time on Earth.

Anthony lived in the apartment above mine while we were in residency.  One of my favorite memories was hanging out in his apartment one afternoon and getting a little hungry.  I asked Anthony if he had anything to eat.  He gestured to the refrigerator and told me to help myself.  The entire contents of his fridge consisted of one bottle of hot sauce and a box of Andes dinner mints.  It is a good thing that Nelda saved him from bachelorhood.

It has taken me these last few days to put into words the loss of my friend Anthony.  We met in Medical School as Gross Anatomy Lab partners, and have remained friends for nearly 30 years.  The fond memories and great times we had together are too numerous to count.  Recalling those times has provided some comfort to the great loss his absence leaves behind.  His intelligence was vast, but not as big as his heart.  I am proud to call him my colleague, but more importantly my friend.  It does give comfort to know that God had a special place for him in Heaven, but the world is diminished without Ant in it.  My heart is with Nelda and the girls.  He was truly a special man.

I have been avoiding writing because I wasn't sure exactly what to say. Working as a Medical Staff Coordinator is a unique role. More often than not, I feel invisible, unwanted and in the way. There are a lot of physicians who treat me as though I am beneath them and not worthy of the position. But not Dr. Malacaman. He was one of the first physicians I met. He welcomed me with a warm smile and always made it a point to say hello each time he saw me. He was always a positive person. I never heard him complain or speak negatively of anyone or anything. Even if my door was shut, he would knock and poke his head in just to say hi and ask how I was doing. I will always remember this about him. I wish I could tell him how much it meant to me. I will definitely miss his presence in the physician's lounge. I will miss hearing him come in with his rolling computer. I will miss hearing his awesome ringtones. Mostly though, I will miss him. I wish there was something I could have said or done. My heart breaks for his family, close friends and colleagues. I am keeping all of you in my thoughts and prayers.

Dr Malacaman was such a joy to be around! I will always remember his unique ringtones and rolling computer. He always had such a great attitude and cared so much for his patients. Prayers and angels all around his friends and family. 

I had the  privilege of knowing Dr Anthony through his wonderful sister in law Lissy. He was a great doctor to all who needed care, a supportive family man and he will be missed greatly.  We can take comfort in knowing we will see one another again when it is our turn to go home. 

I AM SADDEN TO HEAR THAT SUCH A GREAT DOCTOR HAS PASSED AWAY. I CAN REMEMBER HEARING HIM WALKING ON THE UNIT (PROGRESSIVE ICU) AND SAYING TO THE CREW " HERE COME DR. MALACAMAN" JUST BY HEARING HIM WALKING WITH HIS CLOGS ON. HE WAS ALWAYS IN A GOOD MOOD WHEN WE SAW HIM, HE WILL BE MISSED!!

I have known Dr. Malacaman for about thirteen years.  Both as a colleague and as a patient.  He was kind, attentive, compassionate and funny.  He would always stop me in the halls and ask about my wife and parents, both that he had taken care of.  A genuine individual.  You are already missed.  Thoughts and prayers for those you leave behind.  May you rest in peace.

Though I only had the pleasure of working with him briefly, I knew my patients were in great hands with Dr. Malacaman.  Even as an ACP, and as a new nurse resident, he was always friendly to me and treated everyone on my unit with respect and patience.  He was so positive and upbeat when he would talk to my patients and funny.. without really trying to be. I don’t think he realized how funny he was.  Dr. Malacaman made me smile and I could see how hard he worked for his patients. I’m so sorry for his colleagues, family, and friends.  I feel lucky to have known him just for the past six months, and can’t imagine the impact he’s made on the people that have known him for much much longer. 

I had the privilege to work with Dr. Malacaman. He had a kind, humble and caring personality. Dr. Malacaman had a great bedside manner; he greeted his patients with a smile, sat, talk and listen to their concerns; moreover, he collaborated well with the interdisciplinary team and was always willing to share his knowledge. He will be missed dearly.
May our merciful God receive Dr. Malacaman in His kingdom! My sincere condolences to the Malacaman’s family. I will keep you in my prayers.

Anthony, what can I say other than you were never my brother in law, but my brother. You welcomed me into your wonderful family from day one. When your brother and I moved to Florida you’d call me everyday to see how I was and how my pregnancy was going. You’d be a listening ear when marriage seemed unbearable. You loved your nephew and niece like they were your own. Your love for family was unsurpassed. How happy I was for you when you met the love of your life and started your own beautiful family.  The world was a better place with you in it.  Though I’m no longer part of your family I will always love you as my brother. You will be missed.

Anthony Malacaman was one of my absolute favorite physicians to work with. The ease of his smile, the way he rolled with the punches, his innate ability to empathize with his patients was unmatched by most. He was humble, caring, and above all devoted to his family as well as his work. There will never be another Dr. Malacaman and I hope others aspire to be as good as he was. I will forever remember him in my heart. Prayers to the family and everyone who is as saddened by the loss of him as I am.

Anthony was one of my closest friends. In the 8 years he lived in Cincinnati for medical school and residency-he myself , Todd, and Rick hung out almost daily. He was a caring, humble, kind , and sweet man. We all continued to do little vacations after everyone moved away. We had wonderful times together. I will miss him dearly. 

I am very saddened to hear the news of the passing of Dr Malacaman. He always took the time to talk to everyone. He was a joy to work with. I loved hearing him talk about his family and we loved sharing Disney stories. He will be missed. Many prayers for his family, colleagues and friends.

I am very saddened to hear of the passing of Dr. Malacaman. He was one of the most down to earth physicians that I had the pleasure of working with at Baptist South. He always sat down with his patients in their rooms and took the time to talk to them. He always made everyone laugh when he came around the corner of the unit with his laptop on wheels, looking for somewhere to charge it. He loved to teach, and in turn made you want to learn. He was respectful, funny, and smart. He will be missed! 

Managing an Emergency Department and working with all the many physicians Anthony was one of my favorites.  Not only taking time and showing his caring nature with his patients but also with the staff. Having been on both sides with Anthony as my physician and my adult children's physician also. There’s very few physicians that have that natural ability that he had to make patients and staff being comfortable under his care and working with him. My heart is so saddened by this news. The world lost a wonderful physician yesterday! God Bless the family.

You were a kind man, a gentle spirit, a wonderful doctor and I enjoyed working with you all these years as a nurse.  You will be greatly missed Doc.  Our hearts are heavy knowing you are gone. As nurses, we often spend a great deal of time with our doctors and get to know them well. We always looked forward to working with Anthony and he always brought a positive attitude and an  award winning smile. As an RN, I always looked forward to having patients with Dr. Malacaman. I loved how he was always laid back and light-hearted, and he’d often sit down in my patient’s rooms for long periods of time, listening intently and taking notes to make sure he got all of the important details sorted to provide the best possible care. I always loved seeing him walk onto our unit with his mobile desk and tiny laptop and would joke with him about how his laptop font size was going to hurt his eyesight. He’d always chuckle and come up with a new reason every time for keeping it so small. He will be so very missed by myself and so many others. My prayers go out to his family and close friends during this time. 

It was a great honor to have worked in ICU for many years with Dr. Malacaman.   As a very caring and compassionate physician, he was a great role model for the medical profession who challenged all of us to do our best to serve our patients.  Despite having a difficult patient load, he always made time to talk with patients and their families to answer their questions and ease their concerns. He set the example for us.   I will remain forever grateful to have known him.  My prayers are with his family.  May he rest in peace with God the Father.


I worked with Dr. Malacaman for five years at Baptist South. He would sit at the nurse's station and talk to us while we all charted. He was one of the first doctors I saw who sits down with almost all of his patients and talk with them about their care. He never made patients or staff feel he was rushing and would always explain things we did not understand. He was very caring and compassionate. He made others feel we all played a key role in caring for our patients and that the work we do daily is important.  I will miss talking to him. I hope he knew how much we, the staff at Baptist South, loved him. He will be missed. My condolences to his family. 

I’m so grateful for the opportunity I had to work with Dr  Malacaman. He was an amazing physician and I will forever miss seeing him in our hallways and patient rooms.  He was compassionate not only to his patients but to those he worked with. Words cannot express how deeply saddened I am by this sudden loss of a great man. He has left an amazing footprint on many lives. My prayers go out to his family during this most difficult time.  

As a CNA it is not uncommon to have a doctor walk right past you and act like you don't even exist but not Dr. Malacaman. It didn't matter what department you worked in, he always said hello with a smile! He was a kind man and treated everyone with respect! I will never forget his crocs!!! He would wear 1 green & 1 red!

Dr Malacaman was such a wonderful person, he always was so caring and attentive to his staff as well as his patients. He will be dearly missed. My deepest condolences to his family. 

Dr. Malacaman was hands down my favorite physician to work with. So many patients told me after meeting with him that he was smart, compassionate and intuitive. When I saw him rounding in his green scrubs and computer, I knew he would guide me as a nurse. I am so saddened by his passing and privileged to have known him. I wish the last time I saw him wasn’t the last time I saw him. He was so good. I will miss his presence, intellect and enthusiasm.  

I worked with Dr. Malacam at Baptist South he was just a great doctor , I remember his phone  going off and it would always have Christian music playing. He was such  inspiration to work with .your time on this earth is gone but the greatest is yet to come . I pray a blessing over his family 

Anthony was always a pleasure to work with. Not only was he inspirational as a role model but he was very well knowledgeable. We discussed anything from work, Disney, to Pokémon and much more. He was a kind soul who truly cared  for his patients and everyone involved in their care. I will truly miss him pushing his favorite mobile laptop around and caring for his patients. He made the work environment easy going and was willing to always teach. Thank you Dr. Malacaman. May your soul Rest In Peace friend. 

I worked with Dr. Malacaman for over five years at Baptist South. Being an RN in ICU we were involved in so many cases together over the years. He was always so caring and compassionate to every single patient and family member.  He took time with each person to make sure they felt they were an important part of their health care decisions.  He was amazing with the patients who suffered addictions especially alcoholism.  He treated everyone with such respect. He loved the nursing staff and would never miss an opportunity to talk to us, teach us or even help us problem solve difficult situations.  He will be missed so very much by all who loved working with him.   

I worked with him for many years and could not ask for a better person to work along side with. He will be missed so very much. My prayers go out to the family of this wonderful man and doctor.  My he RIP!

I am grateful to have had the opportunity to work with Dr. Malacaman.  He was a great teacher, coworker, and role model.  He treated everyone with integrity and practiced with genuine compassion.  Dr. Malacaman  will be missed by many.  I will always remember Dr. Malacaman for his loving and caring Spirit.  May he R.I.P. with Jesus forever🙏🏼.
