

Arthur Denton Elkins lll better known as Denton, age 37 of Jacksonville, Florida passed away on Sunday July 12, 2020 as a result of an auto accident. Born on April 2,1983 Denton is survived by his parents Arthur Denton Elkins ll (Julee Goodale Elkins) and Marian Flynn Rosenburger (Tomas Land) and Douglas Rosenburger. Denton is survived by his siblings; Bert Rosenburger (Shannon Rosenburger), Melissa Rosenburger (Trey Enloe), Tyler Rosenburger, Gilland Elkins, Adreann Fitzwater (Michael Fitzwater), Nathan Elkins and Cheyenne Goodale–Elkins. As well as his nephews Barrett and Brantley Rosenberger & niece Zoe Rosenberger. In addition to his many extended family of Aunts, Uncles, and Cousins for whom Denton was loved and he cherished them as well. It should also be noted that Denton’s family extended to a multitude of friends, peers and mentors within his musical community. Denton was preceded in death by his grandparents Arthur & Eddie Elkins, Ronald & Caroline Flynn, Emerson & Nancy Goodale and Charles & Voncilu Rosenberger.
Denton’s love and natural talent for music began at a young age. Leading him to pursue an Education in the Arts. He attended Douglas Anderson School of The Arts, where he was awarded a Full Scholarship to Louisiana State University for Marching Band after graduation. His studies also continued at Florida State College of Jacksonville whose band he played in. Denton’s life post school was full of thrills, travel, and adventure. He worked as a performer for both Walt Disney World and Disney Land. Denton also excepted a job as a performer on Cruise Ships, setting sail all over the world. Denton is one of the few people to say they performed on stage in five out of the seven continents. Denton played in several bands through out his life time and was best known for his time spent touring with the Glenn Miller Orchestra before setting out to pursue a solo career in Nashville, Tennessee. Denton’s time in Nashville was beloved to him but after a few years he returned home, where he finally found his place as vocals and guitarist for Jacksonville’s prominent Blues and Southern Rock band Smokestack. Outside of music Denton’s hobbies included fishing, tubing down many of Florida’s natural fresh water springs, and catching the matinee of Hollywood’s newest blockbuster. Denton was a beloved son, grandson, brother, nephew, cousin, friend, role model, and lover. The world may be a little more quiet without you here but our skies are now brighter with you smiling down upon us. Services will be held Saturday July 25th at 3pm at the Morocco Shrine Center address 3800 Street Johns Bluff Road South, Jacksonville, FL 32246 with a follow up Celebration of Life gathering at 1858 Anniston Road Jacksonville, Fl 32246.
