Mrs. Phillips was one of my favorite teachers of all time and I’m sorry to hear of her passing. She was my fifth grade teacher and I absolutely loved her. That was the year she got too ill to finish out the school year and I was not happy with the substitute that took her place :)
I remember the other teachers were sad when she left, which only goes to show how much she meant to everyone around her. My condolences to her family and friends.

I remember in 5th grade as this was the first year we were being integrated in Osceola.  The railroad track was the dividing line for East and West Elementary schools. I lived on the Eastside. Mrs  Phillips was our 5th grade teacher and told our class at East Elementary, we are going to be Somebody Special!! She instilled in us that hard work and discipline will get us where we need to be in life. The graduating class of 1979 was and still is the biggest, and most highly decorated in the history of Osceola High School. Doctors,lawyers,engineers,service men and women,professional NFL player and coach, entrepreneurs,teachers just to name a few. Mr and Mrs Phillips were contributors to our success in life.

I remember she and coach would preserve food from the garden.  One summer Ros and I brought gallons of tomatoes to them. We share this at Coaches homegoing. Mrs. Barbara said Lord I was tried of canning that summer. With that beautiful smile we took a picture with others from Osceola. They weren't only educators but wonwonderful friends as we will always remember them both. Sorry we could make it but know you're in our thoughts and prayers. The McClendon Family
