

Barbara Rothstein (Isaac) Rothkin, 76, beloved mother, sister, and friend, passed away on September 17, 2015 following a courageous battle with a brief, devastating illness. Barbara was born and raised in Jacksonville, FL and was a member of the Delta Phi Epsilon sorority at the University of Florida. Barbara was a tireless volunteer at her children’s schools and temple sisterhoods in Stony Brook, NY and Bethesda, MD. She was a master at needlework and crafts, artfully running the custom needlepoint salon Tapestry in Washington, DC and then Knitting Designers studio in Bethesda, MD. Barbara retired from an administrative position at CIH Properties in Silver Spring, MD, and relocated to California in 2005 to join her married daughters and their families. Barbara became a guest bridge instructor on cruise ships, teaching and playing bridge while exploring exotic locales. Barbara spent the last nine years at Sun City Roseville where she taught and played bridge, oversaw the dance committee, enjoyed weekly country line dance classes, served on the neighborhood watch group, orchestrated numerous block parties, and resumed playing Mah Jongg. Just weeks before falling ill, Barbara proudly earned her Emerald Life Master rank (7500 points) with the American Contract Bridge League. Barbara will be remembered as a devoted friend, a keen competitor, a gifted craftswoman, and a proud mother and grandmother. Barbara leaves behind daughters, Lisa Isaac Riebman (Jerry) and Robin Meyer (Greg), and grandchildren, Avery, Sabrina, Joshua, William, and Emily. Graveside service will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, September 21 in Evergreen Cemetery, Temple Gate, Jacksonville, FL..
