

Bee Elizabeth Mayo passed away quietly on September 1, 2017 with her husband of 62 years, Frank T. Mayo, at her side. She was born July 3, 1934 in Wichita, Kansas to William Alexander and Edythe Ewert Evans. She was predeceased by her parents, her older sister Jane Ellis, a younger sister Patt Henlsey and a son-in-law Dan King (Dixie).
Elizabeth is survived by her husband Frank Mayo, daughters Dixie King (Dan) of Tallahassee and Denise McCormick (Phil) of Jacksonville, four grandchildren – Craig Matthews (Jamie) of Oklahoma, Elizabeth Matthews of Tallahassee, Kristen Robbins (James) of Montana, and Dustin Lowe (Krystal) of Jacksonville, one great grandson Conner Robbins of Montana, and her youngest sister Kay Shelander of Orland Park, Illinois.
Elizabeth was an ordained minister with the Cosmic Church of Truth and a founding member of the North Florida Astrological Association, where she taught astrology classes for many years beginning in the 1970’s. An article about her appeared in the Florida Times Union in 1974. She wrote several articles for astrological publications. In the 1980’s Elizabeth worked briefly in Real Estate for Watson and Sam Folds Realty. She was an avid bridge player and taught bridge for many years. Prior to going into a nursing home, Elizabeth and Frank lived at Camilla at Deerwood and prior to that they lived in Countryside Village where she served as President and later Treasurer of the 55+ Club.
A memorial service will be held at 11am Saturday September 23, 2017 at Greenlawn Funeral Home, 4300 Beach Blvd., Jacksonville FL 32207. Inurnment will follow these services, and Elizabeth will be laid to rest at Greenlawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Community Hospice of Northeast FL, (904) 268-5200. We are thankful to Hospice who oversaw her care for the last 15 months, along with Debra Richards of Debra’s Adult Family Care Home. Arrangements are under the care of Hardage-Giddens Greenlawn Funeral Home and Cemetery, 4300 Beach Blvd., Jacksonville FL 32207.
