Bertie “Boots” Sturm Hollins, age 88, was born on September 11, 1928 in Belington, West Virginia ~ died on January 8, 2017 in Jacksonville, Florida. Bertie was the fifth child of a family of eight. She moved to live with a dear aunt in Weston, West Virginia at age 8, where she graduated from high school. After graduating, she moved to Jacksonville, where she later married John T. Hollins on March 30, 1949.

Bertie is survived by two children, Janice Hollins Sauvain, and John T Hollins, Jr., along with two grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and five sisters. Deceased are two brothers.

Bertie worked at Maxwell House for over twenty five years before retiring to travel with John. They traveled extensively across the United States in their Airstream and abroad for many years. She was a very avid bridge player. Sister, Mother, Grandmother - friend to many - she will be sorely missed by all her family and friends. She leaves us well-loved.

Visitation will be held at 1:00pm followed by the funeral service at 2:00pm on Thursday, January 12, both at Hardage-Giddens Hendricks Chapel, 4115 Hendricks Ave., Jacksonville, Florida 32207. Interment will be at Greenlawn Cemetery, Jacksonville, Florida.
