

Bette Tompkins Putala, age 82, of Jacksonville passed away peacefully with her three sons by her side on July 31st, 2022. She was born on December 12th,1939 in Montague, Massachusetts. She married her love, Michael Paul Putala, in March of 1961, who preceded her in death in 2020. Bette was also preceded in death by her sister, Janice Burnham and two brothers Neil and Bud Tompkins.
Bette worked for Bug Out Services for 30 years and was an amazing asset to the company. Bette was a wonderful example to her three sons, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She poured her love into her family and never missed an important event in their lives. There was never a dull moment with Nana, she loved to shop with her softball friends while the men played ball, dance at her son's and grandchildren's weddings, cheered on and supported all the grandchildren and great grandchildren during their activities as they grew up. The grandchildren enjoyed seeing her old paper calendar hung in the kitchen with every event noted.
She is survived by her three sons Mike (Rachel), Jeff (Dianne), and Mark (Stephanie); grandchildren Brittany Putala, Ashlee Franklin (Justin), Brooke Fewox (Kalup), Stacie Wetzel (Matt), Clay Putala (Christy), Michaela Putala, Mackenzie Kennington (Kyle), Michael Putala, Connor Jennings & Meghan Jennings; great grandchildren Beckham and Brooklyn Blinkhorn, Harper and Hayden Franklin, and Madelyn and Parker Wetzel.
A graveside service will be held on August 4th,2022 at 1:30pm at The Jacksonville National Cemetery, 4083 Lannie Road, Jacksonville, FL. Due to the time of the ceremony, please feel free to dress in casual attire.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Community Hospice of Northeast Florida.
