Betty (“Bet”) M. Boardman was the daughter of Earl Sidbury Morrison and Martha Louise Jones Morrison. She was born on September 8, 1929 in Birmingham, Alabama. On May 10, 2021 in Jacksonville, Florida Bet Boardman went to be with the Lord, following a brief illness.
Bet graduated from Virginia Inamont Finishing School in 1947. She was member of Alpha Delta Pi Sorority while attending the University of Miami. In 1951 Bet graduated from the University of Miami with a bachelor’s degree in Home Economics.
Following graduation, Bet moved to San Marco in Jacksonville Florida, where she lived with her parents and worked as a Customer Service Representative for Southern Bell. A coworker set Bet up on a blind date with a kind young man who would go on to capture her heart. That gentleman was Robert E. Boardman, an aspiring architect. The two fell deeply in love and were married in 1955 at All Saints Episcopal Church, beginning a journey together spanning six decades. Bet and her sweetheart Bob started their family in 1956.
While raising their two boys, Bet was also President of the Nearly New Shop, running the business for 15 years. She was a beloved, faithful servant and longtime Congregant of All Saints Episcopal Church where she served as the 2nd woman on the Vestry and Reader on many a Sunday. Bet loved to share her life experiences with others and humbly expressed her gratitude for the many blessings God had bestowed upon her. Her kindhearted and compassionate nature endeared her to all. Her encouraging words, forehead kisses and warm hugs are dearly missed and treasured memories.
Bet was predeceased by her parents, her sisters, Martha Louise “Lesa” Greene and Lynne Ogleby and the love of her life, Bob. She is survived by sons, Robert “Bobby” (Arlene) Boardman and Lee (Cindy) Boardman, granddaughter Oliva Boardman, step-grandsons Erik (Becca) Nordman and their children, Kyle (Alicia) Nordman and their children and her great-great grandchildren. Bet will be lovingly remembered by Sandy Thalleen, her sister in daily prayer and Karen Meenan, whom she loved and referred to as her own daughter, along with many other dear and cherished friends. Bet was adored by many and will be missed by all who were blessed to know her.
