Betty (Daisy) Mae Aides, age 94, earned her angel wings and went to be with the Lord on Monday, June 22, 2015. She resided at Emeritus/Brookdale of Mandarin for eight years. She was born May 13, 1921 in Canton, North Carolina and was the wife of Jim Aides for sixty two years. She was the daughter of Clara and John Henry Medford. She was also preceded in death by six sisters and one brother. She is survived by a brother, Boyd R. Medford of Canton and two sons, James E Aides, Jr. of Crossville, Tennessee and Thomas H. Aides (Jacqueline) of Jacksonville, Florida; a step-daughter, Katie M. Aides Burkit of Bethlehem, Pennsylvania; two granddaughters, Tamara A. Johnson (Keefe) of Dandridge, Tennessee and Brandi K. Stapleton (Paul) of Suwannee, Georgia; three great-grandchildren; one step-grandchild; one great great-grandchild, and many nieces and nephews.
She graduated from Bethel High School in Canton. She was a member of Mandarin United Methodist Church since 1963 and acted as share circle president. She was a Shriner's wife, active in Daughters of the Nile, worked as a seamstress from home, and created projects to raise funds for crippled children's hospital as a princess.

A visitation of family and friends will be held on Friday, June 26, 2015 from 5-7 pm. The Celebration of Life will be officiated by Reverend Jeff St. Clair to honor her on Saturday, June 27, 2015 at three o'clock. Both to be held at Hardage- Giddens Oaklawn Chapel and Cemetery located at 4801 San Jose Boulevard in Jacksonville, FL 32207.
