Betty Jean Kanode Duncan passed away on October 16, 2018 at the age of 87. She was born in Princeton, WV on December 25, 1931 and moved to Jacksonville in 1961, where she raised her large family. She loved going to yard sales looking for jewelry and crystal and things that her family needed. She loved Christmas and made sure her house was always decorated to the max. She collected toys all year long to hand out on Christmas Eve. Betty was always there to help kids who needed a place to stay, food to eat, or just a friend to talk to. She was the Matriarch of the family and will be truly missed.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents, Daniel and Sadie Ann Kanode; sisters, Stella, Juanita and Violet; brothers, Homer, Ray and Samuel; and beloved son, Ronnie Sr. Betty is survived by her husband, Bobby Dale Duncan Sr.; daughters, Darline Mota (Jess) and Sherry Snicinski (Frank); sons, Danny Mills (Patti), Wayne Mills (Elizabeth), Mike Duncan (Staci), Bobbie Duncan Jr. (Janet), Cody Shear; sister-in-law, Shirley Kanode; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
The family will receive relatives and friends from 4 – 6pm, Sunday, October 21 at Hardage-Giddens Oaklawn Chapel, 4801 San Jose Blvd., Jacksonville FL. The funeral services will be held 1:00pm on Monday, October 22 at Hardage-Giddens Oaklawn Chapel, following by a graveside service in Oaklawn Cemetery. A reception will follow the graveside service in the St. Johns Room of Hardage-Giddens Oaklawn Chapel.
