Mrs. Betty Sweeting Loverich was 85 years old when she passed peacefully on May 6, 2026, in Jacksonville, Florida. She left this world surrounded by the warmth and love of those who cherished her most.
Betty was born in Jacksonville, Florida, on March 4, 1941, to Michael Sweeting and Inez Lovedy Davis. She was the first of four girls — yes, four girls!
She was the owner of Kirkland Ceramics for many years during and after co-running Kirkland Security Services with her late husband, Horace “Kirk” Kirkland. Throughout her life, she also worked as a certified X-ray technician, photographic model, makeup artist, and secretary.
Betty was preceded in death by her first husband, Horace “Kirk” Kirkland, and her second husband, Bob Loverich.
Betty lived a wonderfully colorful and adventurous life. She was a traveler, a regular lottery player, butterfly lover, and an avid collector of brooches and pins. Pink and turquoise were her favorite colors, although everyone knew she could never resist a cute black skirt and top. She loved the smell of roses and vanilla. She read countless novels, adored musicals, and was always discovering new music to enjoy. She loved Thanksgiving, Christmas, and any holiday or occasion that brought her family together.
Betty loved a lot of things, but most of all she loved her family and God. She deeply loved her sisters and brothers-in-law: Sondra and Kevin Maki, Florence and Al Gales, and Debbie and Daryl Siewert. She also loved her nieces and nephews: Charlie Griffin, Robert Griffin, Mary and Pete Hardin, Dondra and Ken Osborne, Nick Padlo, Carrie and Peter Doherty, and Brian and Becca Siewert.
Just as dearly, she loved her great and great-great nieces and nephews: Brittany and Justin Silverfox and their sons Jimmy and Joey; Danny and Sarah Lewis and their daughter Sophia; Natalie and Ansh Parikh; Julia Lewis and Charles Desowitz; Samantha Doherty and Sage Green; Peter Doherty and Emma Dredge; and Sofia Doherty. And last but certainly not least, her roommates, Hannah and Abby Siewert, whom she loved dearly.
Betty’s love, kindness, and unmistakable spirit will forever live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
