Betty P. Smith

Betty P. Smith, 82, longtime resident of Jacksonville, passed away at home with her husband and children at her side on April 10, 2011. She was born in Mt. Holly, NC, daughter of the late Archie Lee Pearson and Carrie Adeline (Preslar) Pearson. She was an excellent seamstress, pianist and gardener. Traveling and antiquing were activities she enjoyed with her husband for many years. Betty was an active member of First Baptist Church. Above all she was loved and appreciated by her family.

Surviving are her loving husband of 65 years, Rex, four children, Dennis (Maggie) Smith, Joyce (Randy) McCormick, Tanya (Charles) Thomas, David (Stephanie) Smith, nine grandchildren, Angie, Joy, Heather, Sarah, Shara, Carrie, Cori, Nathan and Natalie, thirteen great-grandchildren, siblings, Ben Pearson, Archie Pearson, Patsy (Kelly) Crump and Genelle (Johnie) Dail and many dear friends.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 13 from 6 – 8 pm at Hardage-Giddens Funeral Home, 4115 Hendricks Ave., Jacksonville, FL. The Funeral Service will be Thursday, April 14 at First Baptist Church, Hobson Auditorium at 2:00 pm. Interment will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery .
