Betty Lou Pangle Smith, age 92, born May 11, 1924 and a native of Jacksonville, passed away on August 24, 2016 at Community Hospice surrounded by her family. She was a graduate of Robert E. Lee High School and attended Wesleyan College in Macon, Georgia. She was preceded in death by her husband, Roy W. Smith, Lt. Col. USAR. She traveled extensively throughout the U.S. during her husband’s Army career and lived in Japan and Germany. Mrs. Smith was an active member of the Hendricks Avenue Baptist Church.
She is survived by two sons, Roy W. Smith Jr. (Karol), Don W. Smith; a daughter, Christine D. Romano (David); four grandchildren, Heather Visali, Don W. Smith, Jr. (Aelly), Christopher Smith, Jason Smith; and two great-grandchildren, Michael Visali and Bella Smith.
Family only graveside services were held. Memorial donations may be made to Hendricks Avenue Baptist Church.
