Born in Macon Ga, Billy and wife Janet lived and raised their children in Jacksonville, FL. After many years, Billy and Janet moved to

Cherokee, NC where they operated Goosecreek Campground. Approximately ten years later Billy and Janet moved to Hoboken, Ga.

He enjoyed many hobbies such as hunting, fishing and antique collecting. He also enjoyed traveling and spending time with his family. Billy was a loving father, grandfather and friend.

His light will shine forever.

Billy is survived by six children: Billie Chaney, Steven Mercer, Susan Chauncey (Jerry), Quinton Mercer, Lonnie Mercer, five brothers, four sisters, nine grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.

Billy was preceded in death by his parents William E. and Essie Francis Mercer, loving wife Janet Mercer, son William Mercer, three brothers, one sister, one grandchild and one great grandchild.
