

Brian Gregory McKenzie, 71, of Jacksonville, Florida, passed away peacefully at his home, surrounded by his family, on May 27, 2025. He was born in Fort Riley, Kansas, on March 25, 1954, to the late LTC Moran and Betty Gail McKenzie.
He is survived by his wife, Kim Baker McKenzie; two children, Alison McKenzie Schrage, of Winter Springs, Florida, and Brett (JoAnn) McKenzie, of Jacksonville, Florida; two grandsons, Owen and Noah Schrage, and their father Jesse Schrage; mother-in-law, Barbara Baker, of Jacksonville, Florida; two brothers, Seth McKenzie and Sam McKenzie, of Denver, Colorado; brother-in-Law, Channing (Sharon) Baker, III; brother-in-law, Kevin (Ashley) Baker; and numerous loving aunts, uncle, cousins, niece, and nephews.
As a proud military son, Brian spent his formative years moving with his family, experiencing life in a variety of locations and cultures. His unique upbringing instilled in him a love for travel and the ability to adapt to new environments.
Brian graduated from Florida State University in 1978. He taught in the Exceptional Student Education department at Alfred I. duPont Middle School and was the athletic director, where he coached football, baseball, soccer, and track. He retired from Duval County Public Schools as a district specialist in 2017.
A funeral mass will be held July 17, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at the St. Joseph’s Historic Church, 4214 Loretto Road, Jacksonville, Florida, with burial in the St. Joseph's Cemetery, and a reception to follow.
