Born on May 20, 1943, in Jacksonville, FL to Antionette (Renna) Pietrasanta, Camille was the youngest of three children. She was preceded in death by her mother, brother, John Pietrasanta, sister Madeleine Marie Scott, and her devoted husband Lewis Edwin Combs.
Camille is survived by her son Michael Combs (Jessica), daughter Lisa Burden (Dennis), grandchildren Ashley Savage (Brooks), Kelly Burden, Casey Bradstreet (Wayne), David Combs, great granddaughters Madelyn and Lily Savage, niece Amy Head (David), and great niece Rachel Head.
As a child, Camille went on many adventures with her older sister and the neighborhood kids. Her childhood was filled with large family gatherings, neighborhood holiday parties hosted by her sweet mama, and faithfully attending church every Sunday. She was a gifted storyteller, and enjoyed telling her family stories of her childhood and reminiscing of times long gone.
Camille graduated from Landon High School where her love for typing began; she genuinely loved to type and was very proficient at it. Over the course of her life, she worked as a typist and administrative assistant for various companies including JHEP and the Diabetes Treatment Center. As a young woman, Camille was introduced to Lewis on a blind date. They were wed in 1965 and spent the next 58 years creating a loving family and beautiful memories to share.
Living their lives to the fullest, Camille and Lewis enjoyed travelling the country together and their yearly trips with their senior group, the Pioneers. While she enjoyed all of her trips, her favorite spot was taking her RV to Helen, GA and experiencing the crisp fall weather, apple picking, and watching the leaves change color. Camille was a lifelong Christian, and was an active member of Maranatha Baptist Church. She loved people and loved to fellowship with her senior groups, the Pioneers and the Joy Club. Camille coordinated the weekly Cheap Date Club and the Lunch Bunch and absolutely adored going out to eat with her friends. She was also a wonderful singer, and loved to sing in both the church choir and the senior choir, the G.I.F.T.S. In her spare time, Camille was an avid gardener. She grew tomatoes and other various flowers, but her pride and joy was the beautiful azalea bushes in her front yard. Some years she had so many flowers there were no green leaves to be seen.
Camille will be deeply missed by the family and friends she left behind. Her goofiness, love, devotion, long chats, and hugs can never be replaced, but we can all take comfort in knowing that she is back with Lewis and her family in Heaven, and we will see her again.
Visitation will be at 5:00 PM with a celebration of life following at 5:30 PM on Monday, August 7th, at Ft. Caroline Baptist Church, 11428 McCormick Rd. Jacksonville, FL 32225
In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to a cause of your choosing in her memory.
The family would like to give a special thanks to Larry and Anita Weaver for their love and support during this difficult time.
