Carl went to be with the Lord on August 9th, 2026.He was a wonderful man and devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. He loved First Baptist Church and his Sunday School friends. He enjoyed playing golf and hanging out with his buddies.
He never met a stranger and would give the shirt off his back to help someone.
As a small boy, he picked cotton in the summer months to help pay for 1 pair of shoes and 2 pairs of jeans for school, as life was tough back then. He moved from Missouri to Sanford, Florida in 10th grade. He excelled in baseball and received a scholarship to JU and later was drafted by the Chicago Cubs. He became a math teacher and baseball coach at Arlington Middle School. He loved his job and raised enough money to build a” field of dreams” for his players.
After retiring, he mowed yards for added income. He thought it was fun! He had a happy and full life until the Alzheimer’s bug got him, and he declined rapidly.
He remained close to many of his friends and sons Andy and Casey (Vienne}, grandchildren Julia, Caleb, and Cassidy, brother Steve, and beloved friend Shavonn. He was a wonderful and caring husband to Anne, his wife of 55 years.
He will be greatly missed!
