Born in Philadelphia on May 17th, 1948, she received her BA degree from Temple University. After moving to her beautiful South Jersey home in Wenonah, she had a career with a company that provides information and education to physicians, nurses and other health care professionals. Based on that experience, she later chose to obtain her RN degree and opted to work in private practice.
Relocating to Jacksonville in 1995, she fell in love with her Mandarin home and with her very dear neighbors and friends.
Carol was smart, witty, kind, polite and a loving soul who’s ultimate goal in life was to be the “World’s Best Dog Mom”! The loves of her life were her dogs…predeceased by Nikki, Goldie, Murphy, Barkley and Archie.
She loved reading, classical music and especially movies – whether old or new she was especially fond of both tense thrillers and slapstick comedies. One of her favorite hobbies was searching Jacksonville’s thrift stores for that next great treasure.
Carol is survived by her husband of over twenty-five years, Bill Gilbert and their 5 year old, 8lb Papillon: Luna…who was her best friend ever! Carol always believed heaven to be a place where, when you get there; all the dogs you ever loved run to greet you!
Those who wish to remember Carol in a special way are asked to make gifts in her memory to Humane Society of Jacksonville.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.hgmandarin.com for the Dougherty family.
