

Carol L. Hasselbring, 92, passed away on July 26, 2025, in St. Augustine, Florida, leaving behind a legacy of creativity, strength, and love. Born in Peoria, Illinois, in 1932 to Helen L. and Raymond A. Reading, Carol’s life was defined by her entrepreneurial spirit.
A longtime Florida resident, Carol poured her talent and heart into her work as a seamstress and business owner. She founded The Encore, where she not only stitched garments but also sewed joy into the lives of her customers. Her passion for fashion and craftsmanship made every piece she created feel personal and cherished.
Carol was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Harlan Hasselbring. She is survived by her children: Raymond Shrader, Kathryn Shrader, Diane Sun, and Mark Macomber (Heather). She is also survived by her stepchildren: Bonnie Kaye-Sanders (the late Ron Sanders), Colleen Sue Houghton (David), and Dale Harlan Hasselbring (Krista).
Carol was a devoted grandmother to Jennifer Pressley (James), Hilari Ray (Jake), Kyle Houghton (Dakota), Kellie Katich (Brad), Westen Dale Hasselbring (Cristina), Victoria YongWei Sun, the late Kendrick YongHan Sun, Shelby Macomber, Luke Macomber, Amanda Ewing, Meagan Alvarez, and Matthew Ewing. She was also blessed with 12 great-grandchildren.
Services will be held on Saturday, August 9, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at Hardage-Giddens Greenlawn Funeral Home, 4300 Beach Blvd., Jacksonville, FL 32207.
