Carolina Gabriella DeCleen Colbert, age 93, went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and entered Eternal Rest on July 10, 2022 after battling Dementia for several years. She was born in Melsele, Belgium on January 23, 1929 and came to the United States at the age of 19.
Carolina was called Carry by most people and was affectionately called Moeke (meaning mother in Flemish) by many family members. She was a wonderful wife and mother and had a strong faith in God. She and Jack attended All Saints Episcopal Church in San Marco, Jacksonville.
Carry and Jack enjoyed traveling together and made many trips to Belgium. She was an excellent cook, seamstress and knitter. She also had a very green thumb for growing African Violets. She loved listening to music and in her latter days listened to Engelbert Humperdinck on a daily basis. Her beautiful face and spirit will be greatly missed by many.
She is survived by her loving Husband of 42 years, Julian B. Colbert, Jr. son, Robert Austin, daughter, Christy Mangum, Stepdaughter, Barbara Colbert Smith, sons and Daughters -in -Law, a combined 9 Grandchildren, 15 Great Grandchildren and many Nieces and Nephews in the United States and Belgium.
She was preceded in Death by her parents Josef DeCleen and Josephine Daelman, 6 siblings who lived in Belgium and Stepson, Julian B. Colbert
A family memorial service will be held at Jacksonville National Cemetery on July 25, 2022 at 10:00 AM. Due to Cemetery limitations, flowers are not encouraged. However, the family requests that in lieu of flowers that a donation be made to Alzheimer's Association via their web site at act.alz.oredonation. All donations will be much appreciated by the Family.
