Born in Jacksonville, Florida to Tiffany Lee Patten and Randall Scott Stevens.
Attended Alden Road Exceptional Student Center and before that Mandarin Oaks Elementary School.
Carter was a fast favorite everywhere he went and collected many nicknames in his life…like Crazy Carter, Wee Man, Bean, Little Man, Titty Baby, and Mama’s Boy. He loved the wind in his face and the sun on his skin. He was a big music fan and especially loved old school rap and 90s rage metal along with Johnny Cash and the Grateful Dead. He enjoyed riding 4 wheelers, floating in the pool and letting the ocean waves wash over him. Carter was an avid snuggler, a ladies’ man who knew how to get what he wanted and as a teenager he mastered the side eye perfectly. For many years he enjoyed playing baseball with the Field of Dreams league and attending Camp I Am Special.
Carter was happy his entire life with a laugh that was absolutely infectious, and his smile could only be matched by that of his twin brother, Seth. When both boys were laughing it was impossible not to join in. Carter and Seth were both born with a rare disease, Pitt Hopkins Syndrome and were the first set of identical twins ever diagnosed in the world. Despite the hardships and all that the syndrome stole from him, Carter was always a beacon of life. His mom, Tiffany, was his all-time favorite person and he could not resist pulling her close for super sloppy kisses anytime she was near. He loved wrestling with his dad and would excitedly play “monkey fists” each morning and night before bed. He also cherished reading books and telling silly stories with his Mimi.
We rest with the knowledge that Carter’s last day on this earth was one filled with love and laughter. He had just gotten a fresh haircut and had a blast on a school field trip, shopping at Publix and then having lunch at a restaurant with his friends. His evening at home was like any other, filled with kisses, snuggles, play time and all the love in the world.
Carter leaves a plethora of people behind to carry his love and light... His devoted twin brother, Seth, his loving parents Tiffany and Thomas, his favorite aunt Andrea, “Weezer”, Uncle Eric, cousin Christan Boyer. 2 sets of adoring grandparents, “Mimi” Mary and “Papa” Ron Patten, and Mimi and Papa Phillips, 2 caring stepbrothers, a great grandmother, aunts, uncles, cousins, an entire Pitt Hopkins community that stretches the globe, and oh so many friends!
A private family visitation for Carter will be held from 12:00 to 12:30 on Friday, February 7th, 2025 at Field of Dreams Baseball field at 1365 Shetland Dr, Saint Johns, FL 32259. A public visitation will be held from 12:30 to 1:30, with a service to follow at 1:30.
