

Catherine Wilkinson Alexander, 78, passed away on Thursday afternoon November 6, 2014 in Jacksonville, Florida, surrounded by her loving family. Mrs. Alexander was born in Orange County, North Carolina on April 16, 1936 to Rupert Wilkinson and Lillian Hines Wilkinson. Catherine, a beloved wife, mother and grandmother, was an active member of Hendricks Avenue Baptist Church, and an active member of the choir. She was a longtime volunteer at Community Hospice of Northeast Florida, and a world traveler with her husband Bain. She will be remembered for her sweet (and sometimes feisty) personality, her devotion to her family, and her world-class cooking and baking.
Mrs. Alexander is survived by her loving husband of 58 years, Robert Bainbridge Alexander; sons, Edward Alexander (Camille) and Stephen Alexander (Laura); sisters, Rachel Ruffin and Eugenia Roland; five grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and wonderful friends. She was predeceased by her sister, Felicia Allison.
The family will receive friends on Sunday evening November 9, 2014 from five o’clock to seven o’clock in the evening at Hardage-Giddens THE OAKLAWN CHAPEL, 4801 San Jose Blvd., Jacksonville, FL. 32207. Funeral services will be held at two o’clock in the afternoon on Monday, November 10, 2014 at the Hendricks Avenue Baptist Church, 4001 Hendricks Ave., Jacksonville, FL 32207. Interment will follow in Oaklawn Cemetery. As an expression of sympathy, memorial contributions may be sent to Community Hospice Foundation, 4266 Sunbeam Road, Jacksonville, FL 32257.
