Catherine Elizabeth Gormley

Cass was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to James and Catherine Ford. Siblings Geraldine and James preceded her in death.

Cass lived in the Roxborough area of Philadelphia, having married Francis X. Obert Sr. in 1943. After WWII, upon Frank’s return, they purchased a duplex “fixer upper” on Mitchell Street. They rebuilt their home for their two children, Frank and Cathy. This endeavor took four years and the help of the many family members who shared their street of row houses. And shortly thereafter, they were blessed with two daughters, Nanci and Terry.

In 1957, having outgrown their house, they and their four children moved “all the way” to Cinnaminson, New Jersey. Following the move, during the next 20 plus years, life brought another son, Steven; five high school and two college graduations; five weddings; ten grandchildren; and travels on multiple ocean cruises and foreign vacations with friends.

In the early 1960’s, Cass became an active member of the Burlington County Democratic Party and was elected to the office of Cinnaminson Township Clerk. After being reelected to a second term, she held that office until her retirement in 1987.

In 1986 Cass married Andrew Gormley. They eventually moved to Florida where they enjoyed their time together until Andrew’s passing in 2017. She loved the warm weather and tending her small flower garden, trying to keep the squirrels from eating her plants.

Cass was known for her cross-stitch Christmas stockings, fun parties and a love of all things Irish – especially the Fighting Irish . She would decorate her apartment on game day, sit down and enjoy the football and a Guinness.

Cass was also predeceased by her son Francis X. Obert Jr. (Debbie); her daughter Catherine (Cathy) Dugan and her husband Michael J. Dugan, Sr; and granddaughter Teresa Ann Reese (Steve). She is survived by her daughter Nanci and her husband Rich Weber; daughter Terry and her husband, Lou Lefkowitz; and son Steven Obert and wife, Ann; grandchildren Francis X. Obert III (Ginny); Christopher Obert (Amanda); Michael Dugan (Tracy); Kevin Dugan; Sean Conover (Suzanne); Adam Lefkowitz (Lesley); Laura Lefkowitz; Matthew Obert (Taylor); Melissa Becker; great-grandchildren Kyra Ellsworth (Carson); Sean Obert; Jessica Obert; Sarah Mattheson (Jeremy); Abigail Dugan; Emma Dugan; Eric Reese; Christina Lohman; Catherine Conover; Kaya Lefkowitz; Manea Lefkowitz; Arizona Becker; great-great grandchildren Benedict Ellsworth; Aileana Obert; Amelia Lohman; AJ Lohman and numerous nieces and nephews.

A private remembrance service will be held September 28, 2025 at Harbor Chase of Mandarin.
