Cecil Colarol Parton

PARTON- Cecil Colarol Parton (Larry Parton), 73, passed away March 19, 2018 in Jacksonville, FL. Cecil was born on July 25, 1944 in Asheville, NC to Clarance Parton and Vinnie Mahaffey. He was a veteran of the US Army and served during the Vietnam War. During his life, Cecil worked in various realms of the hospitality industry using his management talent to run restaurants, kitchens, and hotels. Cecil was an avid golfer; he loved music and was a part of many bands as a lead vocalist and/or guitarist. He did many things in his life but found some of his greatest joy in coaching youth sports and was beloved by many. Cecil is survived by his loving wife of 35 years, Lynn Whisnant Parton; daughters, Mary Elizabeth Parton and Samantha Lynn Parton. Cecil was a dedicated family man and loved spending time with his daughters and wife. He had a wonderful sense of humor and always sought out the bright side of life. The family will receive friends Wednesday, April 4, 2018 from 5-6 pm with a memorial service at 6 pm in the Chapel of Corey-Kerlin Funeral Home 940 Cesery Blvd. Jacksonville. There will be a small service at Noon on April 20, 2018 at the Western Carolina State Veterans Cemetery in Black Mountain, North Carolina with the interment to follow at 12:30 pm.
